FIFA mandates Normalisation Committee for NFF administration ahead of fresh elections
World football governing body FIFA has sanctioned the creation of a joint FIFA-CAF normalisation committee to manage the Nigeria Football Federation and organize upcoming executive elections by May 31, 2027.
Global football governing body FIFA has formally authorized the establishment of an interim normalisation committee to oversee operations at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following a prolonged leadership vacuum.
The decision, confirmed via official correspondence from FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström to NFF acting leadership, outlines that the specialized panel will be constituted in partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The temporary administrative body will assume responsibility for steering the federation’s governance structure and preparing the framework for forthcoming Executive Committee elections.
Under the directive, the committee’s operational term will conclude once its reform objectives are fulfilled, with a strict deadline set for May 31, 2027.
To ensure impartiality throughout the transition, FIFA explicitly stipulated that individuals appointed to the normalisation panel will be disqualified from contesting any elective positions during the upcoming federation polls.
Pending the final selection and deployment of committee members, the existing NFF administrative secretariat has been tasked with maintaining routine daily management of national football affairs.
The intervention follows widespread administrative restructuring across Nigerian sports aimed at restoring operational stability to the national game.
