Saibari joins Salah in exclusive African World Cup club
Morocco’s breakout star Ismael Saibari has become only the second African player in football history to score in each of his first two FIFA World Cup appearances, matching Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.
Moroccan forward Ismael Saibari has etched his name into football history alongside Egyptian icon Mohamed Salah after a sensational start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following a blistering 71-second goal against Scotland at Gillette Stadium, the PSV Eindhoven talisman officially became only the second African international to find the back of the net in both of his first two World Cup appearances.
Saibari’s historic feat mirrors the milestone established by Salah during Egypt’s 2018 tournament campaign in Russia. The 25-year-old Moroccan, who has thrived under coach Mohamed Ouahbi’s tactical shift into a central attacking role, previously scored the opening goal against Brazil.
His spectacular consecutive performances have secured back-to-back Man of the Match honors, driving intense transfer interest from elite clubs.
