The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is officially set to enter a transformative financial era following a landmark joint decision by the country’s top sports governing authorities.
During a collaborative strategic meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, the National Sports Commission (NSC) alongside the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) formally ratified a record-shattering N1 billion grand prize for the champions of the upcoming 2026/27 domestic league campaign.
The extensive financial restructuring also introduces unprecedented performance payouts for the tournament’s runners-up, with the second-placed team guaranteed to earn N500 million.
