DR Congo’s iconic Lumumba superfan denied US entry, to miss from crucial World Cup match
DR Congo’s famous Lumumba Vea superfan, Michel Kuka Mboladinga, has been forced to return home from Mexico after being denied a United States visa for the Leopards’ decisive World Cup match against Uzbekistan.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s most recognizable football enthusiast, Michel Kuka Mboladinga—famously known as Lumumba Vea—will miss Saturday’s critical World Cup clash against Uzbekistan.
The iconic human statue supporter was stranded in Mexico after failing to secure a U.S. visa to enter Atlanta for the Group K decider. Consequently, the celebrated superfan was forced to return to his homeland.
This devastating bureaucratic setback marks the end of a turbulent tournament journey for Mboladinga, who previously faced lengthy travel delays due to regional health restrictions.
After finally arriving in Mexico to witness the Leopards compete against Colombia, this fresh visa denial permanently sidelines him.
He will now miss all remaining tournament fixtures even if DR Congo advances to the knockout stages.
