Stanley Nwabali rejoins Chippa United after free-agent stunt failed
Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially rejoined South African Premier Soccer League team Chippa United after spending nearly five months as a free agent following his contract termination in February.
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a dramatic return to South African top-flight side Chippa United, effectively ending his stint as a free agent.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper had initially parted ways with the Premier Soccer League club by mutual consent in early February after submitting a formal transfer request during his international campaign.
Despite widespread interest and reported links to clubs across Saudi Arabia and Israel, concrete offers failed to materialize before the upcoming season.
Having missed recent national team call-ups due to match inactivity, the Nigerian international opted to return to familiar territory. Nwabali will now look to reclaim his starting spot and restore match fitness with the Chilli Boys.
