Man United Player Ratings: Santos 7, and youngsters impress in Wrexham defeat
Manchester United kicked off pre-season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Wrexham in Helsinki, despite having a number of first team players available.
Sam Smith scored the winner for the Championship club in the 39th minute, while United’s youth players put in a better shift after the entire starting XI was replaced at halftime.
New signing Andrey Santos impressed, but Leny Yoro and the attacking trio of Mbeumo, Dorgu, and Zirkzee have an evening to forget.
Man United Player Ratings
Tom Heaton 5
Stood no chance with Sam Smith’s goal as his defense was cut wide open. Unfortunately, that was the only time he was called into action in his 45 minutes.
Leny Yoro 4
Not imposing enough as Wrexham easily play through his side of the pitch for the lone goal of the game.
Harry Maguire 5
Heavily involved as Man United dominated possession, but had little to do defensively, although he did make five defensive actions.
Ayden Heaven 6
A dominant display from the young defender, who put no foot wrong in the 45 minutes, and will be very sad to have conceded that goal
Luke Shaw 4
Allowed Sam Smith to pull away for the game’s only goal, Luke Shaw will be looking to redeem himself later in the pre-season.
Andrey Santos 7
The man many Man United fans tuned in to watch did not disappoint. He combined well with his teammates, won duels, and created two chances.
Jack Fletcher 4
No telling impact.
Bryan Mbeumo 4
No telling impact
Mason Mount
Lacked the creative spark to engage his attackers.
Patrick Dorgu 4
A very underwhelming performance from the Dane, who was deployed on the left of attack.
Joshua Zirkzee 4
Didn’t get enough services from his teammates.
