All 55 UEFA members agree to boycott World Cup, other FIFA competitions

UEFA and all 55 member associations have unanimously agreed to boycott FIFA competitions in protest against FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors.

UEFA’s 55 member federations have unanimously voted to boycott all FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, over Infantino’s proposal to bring in private equity investors.

The plan involves spinning off FIFA’s commercial operations into a new subsidiary worth $20 billion, with 20 percent owned by outside investors.

FIFA is reportedly working with JP Morgan, while investors would include a firm launched by Joshua Kushner.

UEFA called the process secretive and warned the boycott stands until the plan is fully scrapped, with binding guarantees against future private ownership of FIFA competitions.
