Fifa scraps proposal to sell off stakes in World Cup after widespread backlash

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has cancelled plans to sell a share of the World Cup to outside buyers. The world football bosses made this decision after many people complained about the idea. Infantino explained that the plan caused too much disagreement among teams, fans, and officials. He said that listening to everyone made him realize the plan was no longer good for the sport. Because of these arguments, the unpopular deal will not happen. Infantino confirmed that the project is now completely dead. This decision is a big win for fans who argued that the World Cup should not be sold for quick cash. FIFA will now have to find other ways to make money.
