Shooting Stars appoints Coach Salisu Yusuf as Aweroro’s successor

Shooting Stars have appointed experienced Nigerian coach Salisu Yusuf as their new Technical Adviser as the Oluyole Warriors prepare for their domestic and continental challenges.

Shooting Stars have appointed experienced Nigerian coach Salisu Yusuf as their new Technical Adviser as the Oluyole Warriors look to strengthen their technical setup ahead of the challenges of the new campaign.

Yusuf brings more than two decades of coaching experience to the Ibadan-based club, having started his managerial career with Nasarawa United in 2002 before going on to work with several prominent Nigerian sides, including Kano Pillars, Rangers International and Enyimba.

The man who most recently was in charge of Coton Sport in Benin has officially succeeded Nurudeen Aweroro following the former Ikorodu City coach’s sacking earlier in the week.

The 64-year-old tactician also has extensive experience with Nigeria’s national teams, having served as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles while also taking charge of the Super Eagles B and the Nigeria U-23 side.

One of his notable achievements came in 2018, when he led Nigeria’s home-based national team to the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.

His appointment gives Shooting Stars a coach with considerable knowledge of Nigerian football and a track record of working with domestic players.

The club will hope Yusuf can use that experience to improve the team’s performances and help develop emerging talents while competing on multiple fronts.

Shooting Stars believe his tactical knowledge, leadership qualities and familiarity with the local game will strengthen their ambitions.

Yusuf’s arrival also represents a fresh chapter for the Oluyole Warriors, who will be looking to establish themselves as serious contenders in domestic football while meeting the demands that come with continental competition.

The club has welcomed the experienced coach and expressed confidence that he can make a positive impact during his tenure.
