Chelsea step up £52m Manu Koné pursuit as Roma eye Chelsea winger
Chelsea are pushing to complete a £52 million move for Roma midfielder Manu Koné, with Jamie Gittens potentially heading in the opposite direction on loan.
Chelsea have accelerated negotiations with Roma over a deal for French midfielder Manu Koné, with the Premier League club reportedly prepared to pay around £52 million for the 25-year-old as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer deadline.
Reports indicate that discussions have reached an advanced stage, while Chelsea are also considering including winger Jamie Gittens in the wider arrangement, with the England Under-21 international potentially moving to the Italian capital on a season-long loan.
Koné, who joined Roma from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2024, has established himself as an important presence in Serie A and has also become part of France’s senior setup.
Gittens, meanwhile, arrived at Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund last summer and is entering his second season at Stamford Bridge after an injury-interrupted debut campaign.
The proposed moves could provide both clubs with significant late-window changes as negotiations continue on deadline day.
