Cole Palmer signs improved Chelsea contract until 2034, backs club’s ambitions
Cole Palmer has signed improved terms with Chelsea until 2034, saying conversations with the club’s leadership and shared ambitions for winning major trophies convinced him to extend his stay.
Chelsea have secured Cole Palmer’s long-term future after the England international signed an improved contract extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2034.
The new agreement adds another 12 months to his existing deal and rewards the 24-year-old for his importance to the club since arriving from Manchester City in September 2023.
Palmer has become a central figure in Chelsea’s attack, recording 58 goals and 34 assists in 138 appearances across all competitions. His latest commitment also reinforces the club’s strategy of retaining their most influential players amid continued efforts to build a team capable of challenging for major honours.
Speaking after signing the contract, Palmer expressed confidence in Chelsea’s direction and ambition.“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” he said.
“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence so it was only right to sign.”
Palmer backs Chelsea’s trophy ambitions
The attacking midfielder also highlighted the shared ambitions within the squad as a major factor behind his decision to extend his stay.
“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too,” Palmer added.
His comments underline his desire to remain an important part of Chelsea’s long-term project under manager Xabi Alonso.
The club have continued to reward key members of their squad with fresh contracts in 2026. Captain Reece James, midfielder Moises Caicedo, winger Pedro Neto and forward Joao Pedro have also agreed new deals, demonstrating Chelsea’s focus on maintaining continuity within the team.
CWC success highlights Palmer’s influence
Palmer’s contribution to Chelsea’s recent achievements was particularly evident at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
He scored twice and supplied an assist in the final as Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to become champions. His performances earned him the tournament’s Golden Ball award, recognising him as its outstanding player.
The playmaker has also made an encouraging start to the 2026/27 campaign, registering four goals and two assists in Chelsea’s opening seven matches across all competitions.
However, fitness remains an important consideration after a persistent groin problem disrupted his previous season. Chelsea will hope he can maintain his availability and influence as the campaign progresses.
By extending Palmer’s contract, Chelsea have secured one of their most productive attacking players for the long term. The challenge now is to turn that stability into consistent performances and further silverware.
