Fifa scraps controversial World Cup investment plan

FIFA has stopped its unpopular plan to sell parts of its big football tournaments, like the World Cup. The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, wanted to sell shares of these competitions to rich business groups. He hoped this deal would bring a lot of money into the sport. However, almost everyone in football was against the idea. Football clubs, leagues, and fans complained that the plan would give too much power to outside buyers. They worried it would ruin the game. After facing lots of angry protests from across the sports world, FIFA decided to give up on the idea completely. This is a big defeat for the president, who really wanted the plan to work. For now, FIFA will keep full control of its own games.
