World Cup chaos deepens as British intervenes, requests Quansah red card be suspended
British Labour MP Noah Law has officially written to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, demanding that England defender Jarell Quansah’s World Cup suspension be delayed by citing the controversial precedent set for American forward Folarin Balogun.
British Member of Parliament Noah Law has formally requested that FIFA President Gianni Infantino defer England defender Jarell Quansah’s automatic one-match suspension until after the 2026 World Cup.
Quansah received a straight red card during England’s dramatic 3-2 Round of 16 victory over Mexico, which currently rules him out of Saturday’s crucial quarter-final clash against Norway.
In his letter, Law maintained that while the red card was entirely correct, the sporting integrity of the tournament demands equal rule application across all participating teams.
He explicitly cited FIFA’s unprecedented decision to utilize Article 27 and suspend the ban of USMNT forward Folarin Balogun, arguing that England’s squad must not be treated differently under materially identical disciplinary circumstances.
