Klopp details the wild length Liverpool went to sign Mbappé
Jürgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool once attempted to sign a young Kylian Mbappé by hosting the forward’s entire family on a five-room private jet that flew in circles over France to avoid detection.
Jürgen Klopp has lifted the lid on the extravagant, top-secret lengths Liverpool once went to in an attempt to sign a teenage Kylian Mbappé from Monaco.
Speaking to J.B. Kerner in his role as a pundit for Magenta TV, the former Reds boss described the audacious courtship as the club’s “most expensive non-transfer.”
According to Klopp, Liverpool executives flew from Blackpool to Nice, where they ushered Mbappé and his entire family onto a lavish private jet equipped with five rooms.
To ensure absolute secrecy during the high-stakes transfer negotiations, the aircraft never actually travelled to a destination.
“We couldn’t be seen,” Klopp explained to a baffled Kerner. “We flew in a circle, talked to the family, ate great food. It was fantastic. And then he went to PSG.”
The sensational anecdote highlights how incredibly close the Premier League giants came to securing the French superstar.
