REVEALED: The health condition keeping Yamal’s dad away from World Cup

Mounir Nasraoui, father of Spain star Lamine Yamal, has explained that his epilepsy and the risk of a stress-triggered seizure are keeping him from travelling to the USA for Sunday’s World Cup final.

Lamine Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, has opened up on why he won’t be at MetLife Stadium to watch his son chase World Cup glory.

Speaking publicly, Nasraoui revealed he lives with epilepsy and takes daily medication, explaining that the excitement and nerves of the occasion could trigger a seizure.

Nasraoui said long-haul flights pose an added risk to his condition, forcing him to prioritise his own health alongside his son’s wellbeing.

“I have to think about myself, my son, and the people around me,” he said, adding he didn’t want his presence to cause complications during the trip.

Despite missing the tournament in person, Nasraoui has followed Yamal’s run closely from Spain, just as he did during the teenager’s Euro 2024 triumph.

He’ll watch Sunday’s final against Argentina from home, hoping his son helps deliver Spain’s second World Cup title.
