Rodri to Barcelona, Deal Agreed With Man City

Rodri’s move to Barcelona is done, Fabrizio Romano confirms a deal agreed for the Ballon d’Or winner to join Barça from Man City.

With City giving the green light to Barcelona’s last bid. It caps a saga that swung away from Real Madrid, with Rodri’s agent citing respect for how Madrid handled themselves in the race.

Getting there took three bids, from a rejected €45m opener up through a final offer in the €70-80m range, with club president Joan Laporta stepping in personally to help close it.

City had said all along they’d rather keep Rodri but wouldn’t stand in his way, and had already lined up Reijnders’ exit to Al Qadsiah as cover.

With the agreement confirmed, Rodri is expected to head to Catalonia for his medical and be presented at the Joan Gamper Trophy shortly after, beginning his next chapter under Hansi Flick.
