Arsenal will not be happy with Morgan Rogers’s first words as Chelsea player
Chelsea have signed England forward Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a British-record £117 million deal, with the 23-year-old expressing delight at joining “the biggest club in London.”
Chelsea have completed a British transfer-record £117 million signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, edging out Arsenal for his signature.
The 23-year-old forward arrives at Stamford Bridge as the most expensive British player in history, joining head coach Xabi Alonso’s squad on a long-term deal ahead of the new Premier League season.
Despite almost signing for Arsenal as his preferred option, Rogers described Chelsea as the “biggest club in London,” a side he has admired since childhood.
The move surpasses Chelsea’s previous record fee of £106m paid to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in January 2023. He leaves Villa Park after helping the club secure Champions League qualification and reach new heights with the Europa League title under Unai Emery.
