REVEALED: Why Yan Diomande’s move to Real Madrid has not been confirmed
Yan Diomandé’s proposed move to Real Madrid has been delayed after his former agent lodged a contractual complaint with FIFA.
Real Madrid’s move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé has yet to be officially confirmed after an off-field legal dispute threatened to stall the transfer.
Reports indicate that former Ivory Coast international Max Gradel, through his agency, has accused the player of breaching a representation agreement and has filed a complaint with FIFA.
The Spanish giants are understood to have negotiated the transfer with Diomandé’s current representatives, Roc Nation, and were reportedly unaware of the dispute involving his former agency.
Personal terms and the agreement between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig had already been settled before the issue emerged. FIFA must now assess the complaint before determining the next step.
The governing body could issue Diomandé with a provisional registration allowing the transfer to proceed, delay the process while the case is reviewed, or halt the move if the complaint is upheld.
The disagreement dates back to Diomandé’s decision earlier this year to leave Max Gradel’s Maxidel agency for Roc Nation, a move that reportedly triggered legal action over an alleged exclusive management contract.
Until FIFA reaches a decision, Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and the player remain in limbo.
