Julian Alvarez sends strong message to Atleti after Simeone snub
Julian Alvarez has reportedly intensified his push to leave Atletico Madrid for Barcelona after Diego Simeone failed to meet him upon his return.
Julian Alvarez has reportedly made his desire to leave Atletico Madrid increasingly clear as Barcelona continue pursuing the Argentina international.
According to Barca News Network, the striker was unhappy after Diego Simeone did not meet him following his return to the club on Monday.
Alvarez was expected to discuss his future with Simeone after completing his medical checks.
However, the Atletico manager reportedly took an unexpected break with his players, preventing the planned meeting and leaving the forward frustrated by the development.
The 26-year-old has reportedly told members of the Atletico squad not to count on him, signalling his determination to secure a transfer. However, reports differ over whether Alvarez intends to refuse training as he attempts to force an exit.
Atletico remain firmly opposed to selling their star forward. Simeone recently reiterated that the club would not sanction Alvarez’s departure despite Barcelona’s interest, while Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has also publicly insisted the striker will remain in Madrid.
