Arsenal reject €45m Galatasaray bid for Gabriel Martinelli due to two important factors
Arsenal have rejected Galatasaray’s €45 million offer for Gabriel Martinelli, with the winger keen to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues and the Gunners valuing him higher.
Arsenal have rejected a €45 million (£38m) offer from Galatasaray for Gabriel Martinelli, despite the Turkish champions identifying the Brazilian as a priority target. The bid was submitted on Wednesday, but the Gunners immediately turned it down.
According to The Sun, Galatasaray are pushing to strengthen their attack ahead of their Champions League campaign and view Martinelli as a major addition to their squad.
Martinelli’s preference could also complicate a potential move to Turkey, with the 25-year-old reportedly wanting to remain in one of Europe’s top-five domestic leagues. His stance could therefore limit Galatasaray’s chances despite their willingness to make a significant investment.
Arsenal are understood to be open to selling the winger, particularly with his contract situation becoming increasingly relevant. However, the club reportedly believes Galatasaray’s €45m proposal falls below their valuation of the Brazil international.
Martinelli’s current deal is understood to run into 2027, with Arsenal holding an option that could extend his stay. The Gunners therefore have some protection over his future and are not under immediate pressure to accept a below-value offer.
Should no suitable proposal arrive before the transfer window closes, Martinelli could remain at Arsenal. The winger has been with the club since joining from Ituano in 2019 and remains an experienced attacking option for Mikel Arteta.
