Coventry City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi on a permanent transfer, with the Nigerian reportedly undergoing his medical ahead of completing the move.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs had been concluded, putting Awoniyi on the verge of joining Coventry as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old forward joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals across competitions.
Awoniyi also ended the 2025/26 Premier League campaign with four goals and one assist, including a memorable two-goal performance against Chelsea in May.
Coventry, who have secured promotion to the Premier League, are strengthening their squad ahead of their return to England’s top flight and have already added several players this summer, including Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka.
Awoniyi’s arrival would give Frank Lampard another experienced attacking option as Coventry prepare for the challenge of competing in the Premier League.
