Newcastle boss Jaissle makes Lewis Hall stance clear amid endless Man United interest
Matthias Jaissle has emphatically ruled out Lewis Hall leaving Newcastle for Manchester United despite continued interest from the Red Devils.
Matthias Jaissle has delivered a firm response to Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Lewis Hall, making it clear Newcastle United have no intention of allowing the England international to leave this summer.
The Newcastle head coach was approached about the transfer speculation by Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel during a post-match television interview following Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at St James’ Park.
When Schmeichel revealed that United were looking at Newcastle’s left-back, Jaissle laughed before simply replying, “No chance. No chance.”
Hall has emerged as a priority target for United as Michael Carrick’s side look to strengthen at left-back and provide competition for Luke Shaw.
However, Newcastle’s stance appears increasingly difficult to overcome, with the club unwilling to sell one of their key young players after already losing several important members of the squad this summer.
Reports suggest United remain interested despite Newcastle’s resistance, but alternative targets are now being considered.
Hall started against Liverpool and played the full 90 minutes, producing an encouraging performance despite conceding the stoppage-time penalty that allowed Dominik Szoboszlai to rescue a point for the visitors.
Jaissle’s public response will therefore come as a major setback to United’s plans, with the Newcastle boss making his position unmistakably clear as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.
