Man Utd plot late double swoop for Barcelona and Real Madrid stars

Manchester United are reportedly considering late approaches for Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga despite completing their midfield rebuild with Carlos Baleba.

Manchester United are preparing for a potentially busy finish to the summer transfer window, with reports linking the club with moves for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde.

United completed the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton on Tuesday, with the Cameroon international joining on a contract until 2031, but the arrival has apparently not ended the club’s recruitment plans.

Balde has emerged as a particularly interesting target as United look to strengthen at left-back, with reports suggesting contact has been made with his representatives.

Barcelona are understood to prefer a permanent transfer, while United would reportedly favour a loan arrangement, although the Catalan club’s stance could make negotiations difficult.

Recent reports from Spain indicate Barcelona may be prepared to consider offers in the region of €30 million, while other reports have placed their valuation closer to €45m.

Balde’s situation has become increasingly uncertain after he was left out of Barcelona’s opening league squad, although reports differ over whether his omission was connected to the transfer speculation.

Meanwhile, United’s interest in Camavinga would represent a much more ambitious move, given the France international’s standing at Real Madrid and his ability to operate both as a defensive midfielder and in more advanced roles.

The reported pursuit comes despite United having already invested heavily in midfield this summer, with Baleba joining Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos as new arrivals.

Baleba’s signing has taken United’s midfield spending to around £148m, according to recent reports, underlining the scale of the rebuild being overseen by Michael Carrick.

Whether United can complete either deal before the transfer deadline remains uncertain, but the latest developments suggest the club are still exploring opportunities to improve the squad in several key positions.
