New JJ Gabriel update emerges as Man Utd reconciliation remains out of sight
A fresh update on JJ Gabriel’s Manchester United situation has revealed that attempts to repair the relationship have made little progress, despite his inclusion in the club’s official team photograph.
Manchester United have made further attempts to resolve their growing dispute with teenage sensation JJ Gabriel, but there remains no clear sign of a reconciliation between the club and the youngster’s camp.
Gabriel’s inclusion in United’s official 2026-27 team photograph initially appeared to suggest that the situation might have improved. However, the latest developments indicate otherwise, with the picture having been taken on 8 September, before the teenager formally expressed his desire to leave.
The 16-year-old has not trained with United since his decision to seek an exit and is now working with a private coach in Barcelona.
Multiple attempts by the club to rebuild the relationship with Gabriel and his family have reportedly failed to produce a breakthrough.
The dispute centres partly on the youngster’s pathway into senior football. Gabriel’s camp wanted him to receive more first-team opportunities, while United have maintained that they were carefully managing his development because of his age.
That disagreement has now left United facing the possibility of losing one of their most highly rated academy prospects.
Gabriel attracted significant attention after an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, winning the Premier League Under-18 Player of the Year award after scoring 21 goals.
His situation has also attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, although United have yet to receive a formal approach.
For now, United retain Gabriel’s registration, but the latest update suggests the club still has a major task ahead if it hopes to prevent the teenager’s departure.
