Jose Mourinho’s Madrid keep rolling as Bellingham inspires 4-0 Málaga rout
Jude Bellingham delivered another influential performance as Real Madrid swept Málaga aside 4-0 to maintain their 100 per cent start under José Mourinho.
Real Madrid strengthened their position at the top of La Liga with an emphatic 4-0 victory over newly promoted Málaga at the Santiago Bernabéu, extending José Mourinho’s winning start to the campaign to three league matches.
The hosts initially struggled to turn possession into clear chances, but Jude Bellingham changed the game with a superb individual effort in the 19th minute, carrying the ball through the Málaga defence before finishing calmly.
Madrid quickly took control, with pressure from Bellingham contributing to the second goal as goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Kylian Mbappé then added a third before the half-hour mark, producing a composed volley from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery to give the home side a commanding advantage.
Málaga showed occasional signs of danger after the interval but could not seriously trouble Thibaut Courtois, while Bellingham came close to adding another when his powerful effort struck the post.
The visitors were also denied a potential route back into the contest when VAR overturned a penalty decision.
Real Madrid remained comfortable as the match entered its final stages, before Arda Güler completed the scoring in stoppage time after Vinícius Júnior created the opportunity with an unselfish pass.
The result gives Madrid nine points from their opening three league fixtures, with their latest performance again highlighting the attacking quality available to Mourinho.
Bellingham has now registered four goal involvements across the opening three matches, while Mbappé continues to find the net regularly.
Trent also impressed on his first competitive start under Mourinho, leading the match for passes and creating several opportunities from the right.
Real Madrid will now turn their attention to their next league assignment against Real Betis, while Málaga face the difficult task of recovering from their first major setback of the campaign.
