Jraidi brace powers Morocco to dominant win over Kenya in WAFCON opener
Hosts Morocco produced a clinical display to defeat Kenya 4-0, with Ibtissam Jraidi scoring twice as the Atlas Lionesses made an emphatic start to their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Hosts Morocco launched their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in commanding fashion with a 4-0 victory over Kenya in Rabat.
Sakina Ouzraoui Diki gave the Atlas Lionesses the lead in the 19th minute from Yasmin Mrabet’s assist before Maryame Atiq doubled the advantage just before the half-hour.
Atiq’s strike was Morocco’s 29th goal in WAFCON history, moving the hosts ahead of Mali on the competition’s all-time scoring list, with only five nations having scored more.
Morocco tightened their grip on the contest moments later when Ibtissam Jraidi finished from Hanane Ait El Haj’s assist in the 32nd minute to make it 3-0 before halftime.
Jraidi struck again less than two minutes after the restart, once more supplied by Ait El Haj, to complete her brace and seal an emphatic victory.
The result gives Morocco an ideal start to the expanded 16-team tournament on home soil as the Atlas Lionesses move top of Group A on goal difference.
