Marcus Rashford returns to Man United as Barcelona pass on €30M option
Marcus Rashford has officially returned to Manchester United after Barcelona declined to trigger his €30 million buy option, leaving the forward available to external suitors via a restrictive £40 million release clause.
Marcus Rashford has officially returned to Manchester United following the expiration of his season-long loan spell at Barcelona. The Catalan giants elected not to trigger the €30 million permanent purchase option before the June 15 deadline.
Consequently, the 28-year-old forward heads back to Old Trafford, though his long-term future under manager Michael Carrick remains highly uncertain. The England international possesses a specific £40 million clause in his contract allowing him to sign for interested European suitors.
Notably, this exit clause strictly bars domestic rivals Liverpool and Manchester City from launching bids. Old Trafford executives remain actively open to listening to external transfer offers for Rashford, alongside first-team outcasts Joshua Zirkzee and Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
