Michael Edwards has stepped down as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football after ownership abandoned the multi-club expansion plans that originally motivated his March 2024 return.

While FSG officially characterized the departure as a “planned transition” following the completion of key strategic structural updates, sources confirm the decision stems from ownership abandoning its highly anticipated multi-club acquisition model.

FSG President Mike Gordon is slated to reassess executive responsibilities immediately.
