The Nigeria Football Federation and National Sports Commission have finalized a lucrative new contract extension with head coach Éric Chelle, raising his monthly salary to $100,000 and expanding his duties to include leading the U23 Olympic team.
Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has finalized a major contract extension with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prolong his tenure with the national team.
Following a decisive high-level meeting at the National Sports Commission (NSC) headquarters on Tuesday, tournament officials ratified improved terms that see the 48-year-old tactician’s monthly remuneration spike to $100,000.
The refreshed agreement heavily emphasizes technical continuity, with the NFF also assuming full financial responsibility for Chelle’s backroom coaching staff.
Beyond maintaining his leadership over the senior squad, the Franco-Malian manager has been officially handed the responsibilities of the under-23 national team.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko confirmed that this dual-role expansion is a deliberate strategic effort to streamline youth progression and build a sustainable long-term pipeline for the senior setup ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Chelle, who secured AFCON bronze in Morocco, remains a core pillar of Nigeria’s footballing future.
