The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced it will file a formal complaint with FIFA over severe travel restrictions imposed on its squad during the 2026 World Cup.
Under current strict visa mandates, Iranian players are only permitted to enter the United States 24 hours before kick-off and must depart immediately following the match.
The geopolitical constraints have forced the federation to base its official tournament headquarters across the border in Tijuana, Mexico, after initially planning to camp in Arizona.
Head coach Amir Ghalenoei labeled Iran the tournament’s “most oppressed” team after they were denied permission to stay overnight following their 2-2 opening draw against New Zealand.
