Shooting Stars have strengthened their preparations for a demanding 2026/27 campaign by appointing Salisu Yusuf and securing four new commercial partners.

The Ibadan club, who finished third in the previous Nigeria Premier Football League campaign, have secured partnerships with Kelme, Chowdeck, Bovas and Ideas House as they prepare to compete on both domestic and continental fronts.
Yusuf’s arrival adds considerable experience to the technical department, with the former Super Eagles coach having previously managed several prominent Nigerian clubs, including Rangers, Kano Pillars and Enyimba.
His immediate task will be to build on the Oluyole Warriors’ impressive league campaign while preparing the squad for the demands of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club’s continental return represents a significant moment, with Shooting Stars set to face Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in the first preliminary round. The first leg is scheduled for early September in Nigeria, followed by the return fixture in Tunisia.
Focus on a stronger squad
Shooting Stars have also worked to reinforce their playing personnel during the off-season, with management hoping that improved recruitment, fresh technical leadership and stronger commercial support will provide the foundation for a more competitive campaign.
Yusuf was appointed earlier this month following the departure of Nurudeen Aweroro, who guided the team to their continental qualification after a third-place NPFL finish.
The new coach will have little time to settle, with Shooting Stars beginning their league campaign against Inter Lagos on August 28 before turning their attention to their continental assignment.
The club’s management is targeting sustained progress and believes the combination of Yusuf’s experience, squad strengthening and increased commercial backing can help the Oluyole Warriors compete effectively across both competitions.
