Thomas Tuchel removes eight World Cup stars as Palmer and Trent among 10 new faces in England squad
Thomas Tuchel has made 10 changes to England’s post-World Cup squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer returning alongside several players brought back into the international set-up.
Thomas Tuchel has made 10 changes to his England squad following the 2026 World Cup, recalling several players who missed the tournament as the Three Lions prepare for their new Nations League campaign.
The most notable returns are Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer, while Tuchel has also brought back Jarrad Branthwaite, Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Rio Ngumoha, Alex Scott, Jason Steele and James Trafford.
The changes come after England finished third at the World Cup, with Tuchel now beginning a new cycle ahead of the next major international tournament.

Some of those absences are linked to injuries, while others have been replaced as Tuchel reshapes his squad. Foden, however, remains absent despite being available, while Stones, James and Henderson have fitness concerns.
England will begin their Nations League campaign against world champions Spain at Wembley on September 26 before travelling to Czechia and Croatia.
