Medical tests confirms Raphinha’s thigh injury blow for Brazil
Brazil forward Raphinha has been ruled out of the upcoming group-stage finale against Scotland after medical tests confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed Saturday that forward Raphinha sustained a right thigh muscle injury during Friday’s 3-0 victory over Haiti in Philadelphia.
The Barcelona winger was forced off in the 40th minute, casting a shadow over the Seleção’s first win of the tournament.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti must now alter his attacking plans for the remainder of the group stage. Raphinha will remain with the squad in Florida to undergo an intensive treatment protocol monitored by national team doctors.
While the 29-year-old is officially ruled out of Wednesday’s critical Group C finale against Scotland, team officials remain optimistic.
Medical staff hope the dynamic attacker can recover in time to feature later in the knockout rounds should Brazil advance.
