Arsenal open talks for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah
Arsenal have opened exploratory talks for Jarell Quansah as they seek defensive reinforcements amid injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.
Arsenal have expressed interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his defensive options before the new season.
According to BBC Sport, discussions are currently exploratory, although a transfer remains possible for the England international.
The 23-year-old has emerged as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, with Arsenal struggling to meet Villa’s valuation. Reports indicate Villa want around £60 million for Konsa, while Arsenal value the defender considerably lower, prompting the Gunners to consider other options.
Quansah’s versatility is particularly attractive to Arsenal, as he can operate at centre-back and right-back. He made 44 appearances for Leverkusen last season after completing a move from Liverpool and subsequently earned a place in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Arsenal’s defensive concerns have increased following injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.
Leverkusen are reluctant to sell Quansah, while reports suggest the Bundesliga club would demand a significant profit on their investment before considering his departure.
