Three more men have been charged over the disorder that followed the Rangers-Celtic Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox, taking the total number of arrests linked to the investigation to 43.
Three more men have been charged in connection with the violence that erupted after the Scottish Cup quarter-final between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox, with the investigation now reaching 43 arrests.
The latest suspects, aged 45, 30 and 20, face assault and breach of the peace offences and have been released on undertakings to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
The disorder followed Celtic’s dramatic penalty-shootout victory over Rangers on March 8, when supporters entered the pitch and clashes broke out as police and stewards attempted to regain control.
Flares and other objects were thrown during the confrontation, while several officers, stadium workers and members of the public were injured. A child was also struck by a coin during the unrest, highlighting the danger posed to spectators caught up in the violence.
The latest developments come as authorities continue a wide-ranging investigation into those involved in the scenes, with Police Scotland still appealing for help identifying individuals captured in images and footage from the stadium.
An independent review published earlier this summer described the disorder as a serious breakdown in crowd control and warned that the situation had the potential to become life-threatening.
Both Rangers and Celtic have faced scrutiny over the events, while the Scottish Football Association has also taken disciplinary action following the incident.
The arrests underline the continued efforts by investigators to identify and prosecute those allegedly responsible months after the match. Police Scotland has released further images of people they want to speak to and has urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
The force has stressed that the investigation remains active as authorities seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding one of the most serious incidents involving an Old Firm fixture in recent years.
