NPFL bags $7.5m three-year deal with Euromatch sponsorship ahead of 2026-27 season
The NPFL has secured a three-year, $7.5 million sponsorship agreement with Euromatch Group, providing a major financial boost as league officials seek to strengthen the commercial appeal of Nigerian football.
The Nigeria Premier Football League has secured a three-year sponsorship agreement worth $7.5 million with Euromatch Group, marking another significant step in efforts to strengthen the financial and commercial foundation of Nigerian domestic football.
Under the agreement, the league is expected to receive $2.5 million each season, giving the NPFL a substantial new revenue stream while increasing expectations around its continued development.
NPFL chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye announced the partnership during its unveiling in Abuja, describing the agreement as evidence of the progress made by the league in recent years.
He said the focus had shifted from simply attracting supporters to stadiums towards effectively managing and engaging the growing number of fans attending matches.
The partnership comes as the NPFL continues efforts to improve its image, match-day experience and commercial structure after years of challenges involving sponsorship, broadcasting and stadium attendance.
Euromatch Group chairman Sacli Semih said the company recognised Nigeria’s vast football talent and was prepared to contribute to increasing the league’s visibility and commercial value.
His comments underline the potential for the agreement to extend beyond financial backing, particularly if the partnership helps attract greater attention to NPFL clubs and players.
Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Gusau also welcomed the investment and challenged league officials to find ways of reconnecting former Super Eagles stars with domestic football.
Gusau believes the presence and involvement of former internationals could provide additional inspiration for supporters while helping strengthen the relationship between the NPFL and Nigeria’s football heritage.
The unveiling ceremony brought together several prominent figures from Nigerian football, including Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia and Brown Ideye.
With the new deal now in place, attention will turn to how effectively the NPFL can convert the increased financial backing into improved competitions, stronger clubs, better match-day experiences and greater international visibility.
