Vitinha and Marquinhos strike late as PSG escape Lille with 2-2 draw

Paris Saint-Germain produced another remarkable stoppage-time comeback to salvage a 2-2 draw at Lille but remain without a Ligue 1 win this season.

Paris Saint-Germain again left it late to avoid defeat, fighting back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Lille in a dramatic Ligue 1 encounter on Friday.

Lille appeared set for a major victory after Hakon Haraldsson opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing a clever move created by Olivier Giroud, before Dilane Bakwa doubled the hosts’ advantage with six minutes of normal time remaining.

PSG had struggled to break through Lille’s organised defence for much of the evening, but the defending champions suddenly found another gear in stoppage time.

Vitinha gave the visitors hope in the first minute of added time with a superb curling strike into the top corner, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense finale.

The Portugal international then turned provider moments later, delivering a dangerous cross into the area for Marquinhos to head beyond the Lille goalkeeper and complete an extraordinary recovery.

The result represents another frustrating night for Luis Enrique’s team, who surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Rennes in their opening league fixture.

PSG have therefore collected just two points from their first two Ligue 1 matches despite scoring four goals in both games, highlighting their defensive vulnerability and inability to convert periods of dominance into victories.

Lille, meanwhile, will feel they let a valuable three points slip away after remaining in control for almost the entire contest.

Davide Ancelotti’s side had appeared disciplined enough to frustrate the champions, only for two moments of quality from Vitinha and Marquinhos to change everything in the closing minutes.

Lille remain unbeaten after two matches, while PSG’s wait for their first domestic victory of the campaign continues.
