Opta Supercomputer picks 2026-27 Champions League winner
The Opta Supercomputer has predicted the chances of teams to go all the way in this season’s Champions League, crowning last year’s runner-up Arsenal as the favourite.
Arsenal have emerged as the leading favourites to win the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League, with Opta’s supercomputer giving Mikel Arteta’s side the highest probability of lifting the European trophy.
The prediction comes after the Gunners reached last season’s final, where they suffered defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to TNT Sports, Arsenal have been handed a 21.2% chance of winning the competition. Their path to glory will not be straightforward, however, with the Premier League champions facing a challenging league-phase schedule that includes meetings with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich are considered Arsenal’s closest challengers, with the German giants receiving a 19.9% chance of winning the trophy.
Manchester City are third at 12%, while reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain have only a 7.7% probability of becoming the first team to win the competition three times in succession.
Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are ranked fifth and sixth respectively, with probabilities of 7% and 5.1%. Liverpool also receive a 5.1% chance, putting the Reds ahead of Manchester United in Opta’s forecast.
Returning to the competition, Manchester United have been given a 3.7% chance of winning the Champions League on their return to the competition, while Aston Villa are outsiders at 2% following their Europa League triumph last season.
Inter Milan sit between the two English clubs with a 3.4% chance.

Arsenal’s position at the top of the prediction reflects the progress made by Arteta’s side in recent Champions League campaigns.
After reaching the quarter-finals in 2024, the Gunners advanced to the semi-finals the following season before finally reaching the final last term, giving them another opportunity to turn their European improvement into a first Champions League triumph.
The competition remains wide open, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City also receiving strong backing from Opta.
Liverpool and Manchester United will hope to outperform their respective projections, while Aston Villa face an even bigger challenge as one of the tournament’s outsiders.
