Manchester United offer JJ Gabriel scholarship amid exit speculation
Manchester United have offered JJ Gabriel a scholarship after his 16th birthday, but the highly rated forward remains expected to leave Old Trafford despite the club’s latest move.
Manchester United have formally offered teenage prospect JJ Gabriel a scholarship after the highly rated forward turned 16 this week.
Gabriel had requested the cancellation of his registration with the club last month, a move that attracted interest from several leading clubs across Europe.
United’s scholarship offer changes the situation. Without it, Gabriel could have left for a Premier League rival without a transfer fee in January.
Any English top-flight club now interested in signing him would have to negotiate a compensation package with United or allow a tribunal to determine the amount.
Despite the latest development, Gabriel is still expected to leave Old Trafford. Reports suggest United could receive compensation of around £350,000 for the forward.
