Amad Diallo set for six weeks injury sideline as Man United forced back into the market
Manchester United could be without Amad Diallo for up to six weeks after the winger suffered an injury in training.
Manchester United are facing a potentially significant setback after Amad Diallo reportedly suffered a training injury that could keep him sidelined for as long as six weeks, leaving Michael Carrick with another problem to solve following Saturday’s disappointing Premier League opener.
The Ivorian winger was absent as United fell to a 2-0 defeat against newly promoted Hull City, with the club initially describing his issue as a minor injury that required further assessment.
However, the latest reports suggest the problem could be more serious than first feared, with additional examinations expected to provide a clearer indication of his recovery period.
A six-week absence would potentially rule Diallo out for much of September and could see him unavailable for the beginning of October, when United face a demanding run of fixtures.
His potential loss comes at an especially awkward time for Carrick, whose side struggled to create enough danger against Hull despite enjoying significant possession.
Diallo had established himself as an important attacking figure for United last season and had also impressed during pre-season, making his absence a particularly frustrating development for the new manager.
United are scheduled to host Ipswich Town next weekend before taking on Everton, Manchester City and Fulham during September, while October brings further tests against Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United, Bournemouth and Chelsea.
With the transfer window approaching its final stages, Diallo’s setback could increase the urgency around Carrick’s plans to strengthen his attacking options.
The club have already added several players this summer, including Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Carlos Baleba is reportedly set to arrive from Brighton.
