Arsenal receive mixed injury news on Kai Havertz and William Saliba
Arsenal have received mixed injury news during the international break, with Kai Havertz facing several weeks out while William Saliba has stepped up his recovery and is targeting a November return.
Arsenal have received mixed injury news during the international break, with Kai Havertz facing a spell on the sidelines while William Saliba continues to make progress towards his return.
Havertz is expected to miss around three to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty with Germany, potentially ruling him out of several important fixtures.
The forward had made a strong start to the season, scoring three goals in seven appearances before the setback.
Saliba, meanwhile, has returned to running on grass as he steps up his rehabilitation from the back problem that has kept him out since the World Cup.
Reports indicate the French defender is targeting a return in November, although Arsenal are taking a cautious approach and will not rush him back.
Saliba’s progress provides a welcome boost to Mikel Arteta, particularly with the defender’s absence forcing summer signing Ezri Konsa into a prominent role.
Havertz’s absence, however, creates an immediate selection dilemma in attack. Viktor Gyökeres could receive increased opportunities through the middle, while Mikel Merino remains another option for Arteta.
With Arsenal returning to Premier League action against Leeds on October 10, the Gunners must now manage Havertz’s absence carefully while hoping Saliba’s recovery continues without complications.
