Billionaire Abdulsamad Rabiu submits $1.1m bid to takeover Kano Pillars
Billionaire BUA Group CEO Abdulsamad Rabiu has launched a $1.1 million bid to acquire a 70% controlling stake in Kano Pillars FC from the Kano State Government, driving the league’s shift toward private club ownership.
Nigerian billionaire and BUA Group Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has formally submitted a $1.1 million bid to purchase a 70% controlling stake in Kano Pillars FC.
The landmark proposal, presented directly to the Kano State Government, marks a historic shift for the iconic northern club. If the state administration accepts, the multi-millionaire industrialist will assume majority leadership of the team.
The ambitious takeover bid perfectly aligns with the Nigeria Premier Football League’s recent strategic push toward full club privatization, which recommends private ownership structures between 50% and 75%.
Transitioning the state-funded side into a partly privately owned entity is expected to dramatically boost corporate investment, upgrade stadium infrastructure, and elevate professionalism across the domestic top-flight football league.
