Former Wydad president Said Naciri handed 10-year prison sentence – SEE WHY
A Casablanca court has sentenced former Wydad Athletic Club president Said Naciri to ten years in prison for his involvement in a massive international narcotics smuggling ring and related financial crimes.
A Casablanca Court of Appeal has handed down a definitive ten-year prison sentence to Said Naciri, the former high-profile president of Moroccan football powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.
Following a highly publicised trial that gripped the nation, the criminal chamber found Naciri guilty for his central operational role in a notorious cross-border narcotics cartel widely known across North Africa as the “Sahara Escobar” case.
Beyond the severe international drug trafficking convictions, the Moroccan politician faced multi-layered charges including document forgery, attempted fraud, and illegal influence peddling.
Naciri, who consistently maintained his innocence throughout the two-year judicial proceedings, was heavily implicated alongside several prominent political and business figures who utilised fraudulent property transactions and forged official papers to launder vast criminal proceeds.
