Ipswich Town agrees seal to appoint Gary O’Neil as Head Coach
Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with French club Strasbourg to appoint Gary O’Neil as their new head coach following the departure of Kieran McKenna.
Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are on the verge of officially announcing Gary O’Neil as their new head coach. The Tractor Boys have reached an agreement in principle with both the 43-year-old Englishman and Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
O’Neil is expected to bring close backroom associates Tim Jenkins and Neil Critchley with him to Suffolk to finalize the new management structure.
The appointment marks an immediate return to English football for O’Neil, who joined the BlueCo-owned French side only last January.
During his brief stint in France, he successfully guided Strasbourg to an impressive eighth-place finish in Ligue 1. O’Neil now steps into the Portman Road vacancy to succeed Kieran McKenna, tasked with establishing top-flight stability for the newly promoted club.
