Johan Manzambi smashes World Cup goal contribution record in Swiss win
Switzerland’s Johan Manzambi has become the youngest player in over sixty years to register five goal contributions in a single FIFA World Cup tournament.
Swiss prodigy Johan Manzambi cemented his name in football history during Switzerland’s 2-0 World Cup victory over Algeria.
At just 20 years and 261 days old, the dynamic SC Freiburg midfielder provided a brilliant assist for Breel Embolo’s opening goal, officially becoming the youngest player in over six decades to record five goal contributions in a single tournament edition.
The breakout star has taken the tournament by storm, racking up three goals and two assists in just four appearances.
Manzambi joins German legend Thomas Müller, who achieved eight goal involvements as a twenty-year-old in 2010, as the only players under the age of 21 to reach this elite statistical milestone in the 21st century.
