Former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan has died aged 75 after battling stage four stomach cancer.

Former England captain, manager and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Kevin Keegan has died aged 75 following a battle with stage four stomach cancer.

His family confirmed he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife Jean and daughters Laura and Sarah.

Keegan enjoyed a glittering playing career with Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton and Newcastle United, winning major domestic and European honours while earning 63 England caps and captaining his country.

Keegan later built a memorable managerial career with Newcastle United, Fulham, Manchester City and England, becoming renowned for his attacking style and passionate leadership.

Tributes have poured in from former clubs, players and supporters, with Newcastle describing him as the “beating heart” of the club and Liverpool hailing one of its greatest-ever players.
