Newcastle United have finalized a €60 million agreement with SC Freiburg to secure highly-rated Swiss international midfielder Johan Manzambi on a long-term contract, beating out strong competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

The Tyneside outfit structured a lucrative €60 million package to outpace Aston Villa, who had aggressively entered the race to find emergency midfield cover after losing Amadou Onana to a season-ending injury.
