Wrexham beat Premier League side Manchester United 1-0 in a pre-season friendly at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium, with Sam Smith netting the winner.

Sam Smith struck the only goal as Wrexham beat Manchester United 1-0 in Helsinki, building on last weekend’s goalless draw with Wisła Kraków.

United fielded a strong first-half side including Harry Maguire, Mason Mount and new signing Andrey Santos, and nearly led when Smith headed a Mount corner against his own crossbar.

Wrexham went ahead in the 39th minute through George Thomason and Lewis O’Brien, with Smith turning the ball in at the back post.

Phil Parkinson made ten changes at half-time, and despite late United pressure, Wrexham held firm — continuing pre-season buildup after missing out on promotion to the Premier League last season.
