Tottenham reach agreement for Chelsea duo as Mudryk chooses De Zerbi reunion
Tottenham have agreed deals with Chelsea for Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhailo Mudryk as Spurs move quickly to strengthen their squad following a turbulent transfer deadline day.
Tottenham Hotspur have reached agreements with Chelsea for Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhailo Mudryk as Roberto De Zerbi’s side make a late push to reshape their squad before the transfer window closes.
The deal for Adarabioyo is further advanced, with the defender agreeing personal terms and receiving permission to undergo a medical ahead of a permanent move to north London. Mudryk is also set to arrive on loan, although the final details of his personal terms still need to be completed.
The double move represents a significant change of direction for Spurs after their pursuit of Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye collapsed when Manchester City moved to secure the Senegal international.
Tottenham have therefore turned their attention to strengthening elsewhere, with Adarabioyo providing additional defensive depth and Mudryk offering another attacking option.
Mudryk’s preference has reportedly been influential in the negotiations, with the Ukrainian choosing Tottenham because of the opportunity to reunite with De Zerbi, who previously coached him at Shakhtar Donetsk. The winger worked under the Italian 19 times at the Ukrainian club, recording two goals and nine assists during that spell.
For Chelsea, the moves form part of a wider squad reshuffle under Xabi Alonso, who inherited a large group of central defenders and has been working to reduce the numbers.
Adarabioyo has subsequently fallen down the pecking order, making a permanent departure a practical solution for all parties.
Tottenham’s pursuit of the defender also comes amid uncertainty surrounding Kevin Danso, who is reportedly heading towards Sunderland, leaving Spurs needing another centre-back.
With the transfer deadline approaching, the agreements give Tottenham two important additions as De Zerbi attempts to improve a team that has endured a difficult opening to the Premier League campaign.
