Paul Pogba’s time at AS Monaco is reportedly coming to an end, with the club preparing to terminate his contract following a difficult return to competitive football.
French outlet Nice-Matin reports that Monaco believe the former Manchester United midfielder will be unable to contribute sufficiently to their objectives.
Pogba joined Monaco in June 2025 on a two-year contract that runs until June 2027. The move represented his return to professional football after serving an 18-month doping suspension, which had kept him away from the game for almost two years.
However, injuries have severely disrupted his comeback. Pogba has made only six appearances for Monaco since joining the Ligue 1 club, with his fitness problems limiting his opportunities to regain his previous level.
Reports indicate Monaco are now seeking to bring the agreement to an early conclusion. The club had already expressed concerns about Pogba’s limited impact, with CEO Thiago Scuro previously admitting that his return had not developed as expected.
If the contract is terminated, Monaco could reportedly remain responsible for Pogba’s outstanding wages through the original June 2027 expiry date.
The situation reflects how difficult the Frenchman’s comeback has become after his doping suspension and continued injury problems.
